Peter Clemett

Location: Christchurch

Description of what you do:
A bit of everything and anything. Woodwork is my hobby and although my main focus is woodturning, I’ve had experience making furniture and other non-turned items. In woodturning, I’m equally comfortable engaging in spindle work or faceplate projects – in timber only or incorporating other materials and/or a range of embellishment techniques. I mainly turn and create for my own interest, but also donate a portion of my workshop time each year to charity causes.

Description of demonstrations:
If you have a specific woodturning topic in mind, I can usually build a demonstration and find a project to suit to the need. Contact me and let’s discuss. I can include the use of pewter in projects or make this the sole focus of a demonstration. Likewise, I can incorporate and talk about various embellishment techniques (paints, airbrush, texture, pyrography). I have an interest in elements of design and form will include generally touch on such aspects relevant to the project at hand.

Distance you are willing to travel:
I am in full-time employment, so my availability is restricted to evenings or weekends, and is also a constraint on my ability to travel. 100km is about the limit for an evening demo. With advance planning it is possible to extend this range, especially where I am traveling for an event and it is possible to combine the two.
